Mobile phone video footage has emerged of football fans bursting into a racist chant as they travelled on the London Underground to a match against their arch-rivals.
The Arsenal supporters were caught on camera shouting anti-Semitic abuse on Saturday as they made their way to the North London derby at White Hart Lane, the home of Tottenham Hotspur.
The footage was filmed by a disgusted fellow passenger and in it the group of men and one woman, wearing a red Arsenal scarf, can be heard chanting: ‘I’ve got foreskin [muffled] f*** the Jews.’
The video was shot as fans of the rival teams clashed violently before the match.
The Tottenham fan who filmed the clip, who did not want to be named, told the Daily MailOnline: ‘I was on my way to the game on Saturday and it was about 11.45am.
‘There was a certain group of people who were chanting and shouting.
‘I got off at Seven Sisters and spoke to the police about it but they didn’t really do anything about it.
‘The video I shot isn’t the half of it – they were singing about the Holocaust and Auschwitz – I’ve heard that kind of thing before but it doesn’t normally happen with Arsenal.
‘There weren’t really any other Spurs fans on the train, but there were normal commuters. No one seemed shocked, some people were actually laughing.
‘I was really offended by it.’
Baton wielding police were forced to act as fans walking towards White Hart Lane in advance of the crunch Premier League match began jostling one another.
At least one fan suffered a cut head outside Tottenham’s ground despite the heavy police presence.
Mounted police intervened as fans tried to make their way into the ground for Saturday’s lunchtime kickoff.
Traditionally, Arsenal fans are escorted into White Hart Lane by the Metropolitan Police to reduce the chance of any incidents.
The Metropolitan Police said on Saturday: ‘Two men were arrested in connection with public order offences ahead of the Arsenal/Tottenham Hotspur football match taking place at White Hart Lane today.
‘The two individuals were detained separately, in unconnected incidents, around 12:30hrs at the junction of High Road and Park Lane.
‘They have been taken to north London police station where they currently remain. An appropriate policing plan is in place for the event.’
Last time Arsenal met Tottenham at White Hart Lane, the away fans were accused of ripping off hoardings at the ground, which is due to be demolished in the near future.
Tottenham fans in response destroyed some toilets at The Emirates.
